The proposal configures two elongated planes–slabs which organise the architectural synthesis in contrapuntal relation to the natural landscape and the rocky slope. The environment is complemented by retaining walls, thus creating a landscape receptor for the natural succession of interior and open-air spaces. Horizontal slabs accommodate living spaces, closed or semi-open-air, while bedrooms and auxiliary spaces are superimposed in the tower houses. The first design gesture for each residence is the delineation of ground level on the sloping mountain, so as to achieve an elevation distance of almost 4.50 m. between the houses and to ensure necessary privacy and the unobstructed view over the Aegean pelago. Secondly, the mutual typology between the two residences, adapted to their respectively distinct characteristics, provides a shared reference and common architectural syntax to the design, overall. The design makes use of stone masonry as its main material for the tower houses and the retaining walls, as well as slabs constructed of bare concrete. The main idea comprises of the firm outline of the design that encircles the industrial facility and symbolically defines its identity. The precise clean line of the skin of the building is in contrapuntal relation to the individual kinetic design elements that are emphasized as main structural parts. Conceived as point, line and surface, these structural elements include the column, beam and bearing wall that are adjusted in bracket ties and form a spatial and aesthetic design. Located in the lively neighborhood of Gazi, the proposal was conceived as a dissolution of the strong boundaries of an elementary habitable “box” and the arrangement of a flowing design by plates. In this multi-housing project, the design “opened” towards the outside forming a condition of extroverted multi-habitation. The dissolution of the “box” is conceptually articulated by vertical and horizontal planes in “bracket” ties with one another. These planes penetrate the façade and slide like “drawers” inside the interior and create livable space. Located under the hill of Filopappos, this house is an adaptation of the modernist concept of the “primary habitable box”, or the minimum “life container”. Instead of a design made by plates and free surfaces, hereby, the treatment of a solid “box” shape is prominent and adds to the building’s integration to the neighborhood. Despite the outer boundary that shelters the delicate intimacy of “private life”, the house retains a social façade, through a balanced visual and spatial intercourse between public and private. The design is part of the construction planning of the "New Livadeia Prefecture Premises" (First Prize at the Panhellenic architectural competition). The main feature of the redesign is the capability to facilitate the multifunctional purposes of the new hall. [:enteam] Architect: Sofia Tsiraki Collaborating Architect: Giota Dalageli
The architectural idea of the proposal is based on an introverted spatial configuration around a central open space. The offices expand around the atrium of the first level. The design originates from a two-storeyed building wing, incorporated in the surrounding urban tissue and the adjacent public square. Then, spaces are configured along a spiral expansion that gradually culminates vertically. The load-bearing system constructed by unpainted bare concrete is emphasized as a principal and autonomous structural configuration of distinctive elements. The project comprises a small building of offices and commercial uses. Unpainted bare concrete, steel and glass panels are its main construction materials. The load bearing system constructed by bare concrete is emphasized as a principal and autonomous structural configuration of distinctive elements. The apartments block has been constructed in terms of the typical Greek financing system of "antiparochi". The design does not evade the triangular shape of the plot; instead, it makes use of it by applying it in top view. The triangular plan expands between the two main building lines followed by a sequence of bearing walls that configure the zones of terraces and open-air spaces. The load-bearing system by unpainted bare concrete is emphasized as a principal and autonomous structural configuration of distinctive elements (sandwich type plates, bearing walls, columns). The second layer of the outer boundary of the building comprises of curtain walls, painted panels and blinds that are "interlocking" with the structural system. The building's transparency, necessary for commercial and office uses, emphasizes the interplay of these different systems, as well as their aesthetic and structural significance for the total configuration of the building. The project consists of two vacation residences that are configured along a common pathway running across the plot. The residences are organised as precise geometrical L-shape prisms around their respective inner yards. [:enteam] Architect: Sofia Tsiraki Collaborating Architect: Vassiliki Basiakou
The plot is located at the outskirts of the town of Rethymnon in Crete. The street on the north is 3 meters higher from the public square that expands next to the plot towards the southeast. The main idea of the proposal is the spatial connection of the two, the square and the street, that is accomplished by a pathway running across the building. [:enteam] Architect: Sofia Tsiraki Collaborating Architect: Vassiliki Basiakou
The view of the sea is an integral part in the design of the specific project. The four independent vacation residences communicate through a crooked common pathway. The distinct residences comprise small units in groups of two, while they all refer to a central common-use space at the centre of the plot. The residences are configured in L-shape and square plan typologies. [:enteam] Architect: Sofia Tsiraki

The building plan does not attempt to “correct” the awkward triangular shape of the site. Instead, it accepts and adopts this peculiarity and makes good use of it in a unique way. Therefore, it manifests itself along a triangular span as a spiral of wings embodying a linear open-space zone, and not as a mere blob. The essence of this dynamic is translated in spatial terms by the transition from the outside boundary along the National Road to the partly glazed atrium forming the inner core of the synthesis. This counter clockwise “penetration” towards the interior is visible at its start on the main façade along the National Road, as a vertical razor-sharp slit forming the high entrance to the walkway which divides the whole complex into two parts. In this way the elongated (running a total of 140 m.) main façade forms a local landmark perceived both during a slow on-foot approach and a speeding drive-by on the highway lasting a few seconds. The open walkway running through the synthesis is also an integral part of the design framework aiming at reducing energy consumption and improving working conditions within an uplifting spatial habitat. The apartments block has been constructed in terms of the typical Greek financing system of "antiparochi". The building includes a permanent sculpture exhibition on ground level and apartments of 80sqm each on the upper levels. Open spaces are configured in front of the built ones as a continuation of urban public space, thus allowing the building to embrace the living social space of the city and the adjacent "Syggros" park. The building follows the syntactic coherence of "base", "body" and "top" as it can be found in the modernist architecture of the 30's. [:enteam] Architect: Sofia Tsiraki Consulting Architect: Tassos Biris
The interior is configured by a main T-shape expansion of two movements that organise the plan of the different living spaces of the apartment. The spaces communicate visually with the existing "container" since the new constructed boundary is not merely a dividing panel but it is configured by linear elements (column) and surface ones (plate, wall). [:enteam] Architect: Sofia Tsiraki
The L-shaped plan is opened towards the South embracing the interior yard, at the same time allowing for a view of mount Parnitha. The proposal configures a linear elongated building that follows the natural slope. [:enteam] Architect: Sofia Tsiraki
The proposal is conceived as a landmark within the urban landscape particularly in the neighborhood of Metaxourgeio. The building consistutes a geometric prism of precise shape and strict structural configuration. The study of the load-bearing system was key in the design process. Its spatial expression organises the relation between horizontal and vertical elements, the articulation of plates and columns and the succession of interior and open spaces. The project consists of six standardised houses located at the outskirts of the traditional village with a view over the Amfissa plains and the sea. The design is configurated by the linear span of a common pathway along which the different residences are arranged. The houses follow the natural slope and they are configured in L-shape around their respective private courtyards. The residence is located next to a street in an Athenian neighborhood of low building capacity. Key in the proposal is the gradual access to the main living spaces from the street through a semi ope-air space. The plan is arranged in main and secondary spatial units and spaces of rest and movement according to a simple linear geometry. [:enteam] Architect: Sofia Tsiraki
The key characteristic of the residence is the central living space of the atrium located at the focal point of its spaces. During the summer it allows for natural cooling, while in the winter it functions as a natural lighting source. The plan configurated in U-shape revolves around the atrium that is a reference to the clasical housing typology and the traditional Athenian residences.
